Happy Easter!

Easter Eggs

Happy Easter everyone! One of my resolutions this year was to try and get back to enjoying making instead of it becoming another thing on the to-do list…. finding my creativity again and rediscovering my childhood joy in the act of making.

I am the daughter of a German mother and I am the mother of a Russian Orthodox son, so I connect with Easter as a time of making, even more than Christmas. I loved the Germanic tradition of painting eggs which I remember doing as a child with my mum and my aunt. The Russian Orthodox tradition of staining eggs with a red dye was something from my son’s childhood and I have always had a bit of an obsession for Russian Orthodox iconography. So I thought I’d make my own version of FabergĂ©’s bejewelled eggs to celebrate Easter.
